RWDM sign striker Makhtar Gueye from KV Oostende

RWDM have announced the signing of striker Makhtar Gueye from KV Oostende. The Senegalese striker has signed a three-year-contract with the Brussels side. It has been reported that the fee for the striker is around €3m, but that could rise depending on the triggering of bonus clauses that are included in the deal.

The tall 25-year-old forward scored 25 goals in 71 games for Oostende, having joined the side in the summer of 2020. During the 2022/2023 season he spent time on loan in Spain with Real Zaragoza. In 23 games, the striker failed to score. Gueye began his career in France with Saint-Etienne, making five appearances for the first time and scoring once. He did have a spell on loan with Nancy, a side also owned by Oostende’s owners Pacific Media Group, scoring seven goals in 24 games.

RWDM began their time back in the Belgian first tier with a 4-0 defeat to Genk. Just days before the season, the club sacked the entire coaching staff.
