Ruud van Nistelrooy looking forward to receiving ‘warm’ reception at Arsenal

Ruud van Nistelrooy is looking forward to returning to Arsenal and, he joked, a “warm” reception from the English club’s fans.

Van Nistelrooy has a lot of history with the English club, famously missing a late penalty against them when playing for Manchester United and then scoring one a year later to end their unbeaten run.

He’ll return there as PSV manager for the Europa League clash between the two, and is looking forward to it.

“When you arrive at Arsenal, the games we played at Highbury and Old Trafford of course are crossing my mind,” he said.

When asked specifically about missing that crucial penalty, he joked: “That’s why I expect a warm welcome here tomorrow.”

The manager also confirmed in the press conference that Luuk de Jong, Noni Madueke and Mauro Junior are all available after being out with injuries for most if not all of the current campaign.
