Ronny Deila tempted by Club Brugge as Standard Liege owners 777 fail to convince with future investment

Voetbalkrant are reporting that Standard Liege head coach Ronny Deila is seriously considering leaving the club to join Club Brugge. There have been meetings between his representatives and the club, but until recently it appeared that the former Celtic and Valarenga head coach would prefer to remain in Liege.

However, this was also on the basis that the clubs owners 777 would be able to invest in the squad to give him a chance of challenging for the title. While they are keen to invest, it appears that they have not been able to make a firm promise to Deila about the size of the budget that would be available to him.

Club Brugge, on the other hand, may not have been able to defend their title but they certainly have the talent and a budget that would give Deila a strong chance of challenging and winning the league title.

Another name that has recently cropped up in connection with the upcoming vacancy at Club Brugge is their former head coach Philippe Clement. He looks set to depart Monaco in the summer, sparking rumours that a return to Belgium could be on the cards.
