Roma v Feyenoord Preview | All Europa League roads lead to Rome once again

Feyenoord will once again travel to Rome for a Europa League knock-out tie. This is the third time in a row that the sides have met in the competition, although in 2022 this was in the final with the Serie A side being victorious. Last season, Feyenoord won the first leg 1-0 before capitulating to a 4-1 defeat in Italy. This time around they go into the second leg in a slightly worse position, with Romelu Lukaku having scored a second-half equaliser to ensure Roma came into the second-leg level.

Feyenoord are in great form in 2024 however. They are unbeaten in nine games, with only three draws in that time. They have beaten league leaders PSV in the KNVB Cup, although in the Eredivisie they are still 10 points behind them. At the weekend they beat relegation threatened RKC Waalwijk 1-0 at home in a game where they had 32 shots, 14 of which were on target. The side will be hoping that they have packed their finishing boots for the trip to Italy, as they can ill afford to waste that many chances against the Serie A side.

Roma on the other hand were far more convincing in their match at the weekend. They beat Frosinone 3-0 away from home and keep themselves in the top six, four points away from the top four.
