Robin Veldman will not be given the Anderlecht job permanently, regardless of results

During a press conference on Monday, Anderlecht president Wouter Vandenhaute made it clear that Robin Veldman is not the long-term solution. As reported by Sudinfo, Vandehaute stated “We need him for the long term and we don’t want to burn him, Robin was the only realistic solution for the short term”. Veldman has stepped into the role from his work with the U23 side in the Challenger Pro League, where his young side have impressed against their more experienced opposition.

Vedman has taken over from Felice Mazzu, who was released by the club following the 3-1 defeat away to Standard Liege on Sunday. This defeat leaves the team languishing in 12th place with just 16 points from their 14 matches. The Brussels based side are only five points away from the relegation zone.

Fans have been protesting over the past couple of weeks over the poor performances on the pitch, and the decisions made away from the pitch. This culminated in the game with Standard being delayed due to projectiles being thrown from the away fans.
