PSV Eindhoven have officially announced the signing of Ricardo Pepi from Augsburg. The striker’s documents were signed on Friday and the 20-year-old US international striker is officially a PSV player.
Pepi has become Peter Bosz’s first signing as PSV’s new head coach. The striker spent last season on loan in the Dutch top flight with FC Groningen. Despite scoring 12 goals in 29 appearances, the 15-time US international was unable to prevent Groningen from being relegated to the Eerste Divisie for the first time in 23 years. The talented attacker was keen to leave FC Augsburg and has opted for a return to the Netherlands. He’s signed a five-year deal with PSV.
Ricardo Pepi kicked off his professional career with FC Dallas in the MLS. He scored 13 goals in 31 appearances during the 2021 campaign before making the move to Germany. At Augsburg, he played 16 times but failed to make a single goal contribution. His fantastic form in the Eredivisie last season has earned him a return to the Netherlands. This time, for a top club. Speaking about the move, Pepi told the club website ‘I am very happy and excited to be here. I believe this is the right step for my career. PSV is a club with great ambitions and I share the same desire to win trophies.’
