RFC Seraing have announced that former Zulte Waregem favourite Mbaye Leye has left the club. The former Standard Liege and Zulte Waregem head coach took over in January 2024 and was tasked with keeping the side in the Belgian second tier. Leye, with the help of Oostende’s bankruptcy, was able to keep the side in the Challenger Pro League. He managed to do the same this season, with the side finishing in 14th place thanks to Deinze’s bankruptcy.
Leye and Seraing appear to have come to a mutual agreement over the end of his time with the club. According to reports elsewhere, the Senegalese head coach is now looking to find a new role either within or outside of Belgium. He could argue that he overachieved during the past year and a half at a side with little to no budget and a reliance on their youth system. Just a few seasons ago, with the help of FC Metz, the side won promotion to the Pro League. However, once Metz were relegated to Ligue 2 the side could no longer rely on their sister club to support their success.
