According to reports from Voetbal International, René Hake has spoken to West Bromwich Albion about the vacant manager’s position. The Dutch coach has been without a club since leaving Manchester United as assistant last autumn.
West Brom are looking for a successor to Carlos Corberán, left for Valencia in December. Hake (53) is one of the candidates for the job, but he arrives as just one of several names on the Baggies’ shortlist.
While Hake may arrive as one of many inquisitive coaches interested in the West Midlands club, he himself has been courted by a number of different clubs. According to the Dutch outlet VI, several clubs abroad are believed to be interested in the man who led Go Ahead Eagles to European football last season.
After that success in Deventer, Hake of course accepted an offer from Manchester United to become one of Erik ten Hag’s assistants. Following the former Twente and Ajax manager’s sacking, Hake seemingly decided to remain active in England.
West Brom are currently sixth in the Championship and will look to consolidate their place in the playoffs at the end of the season.
