In an interview following his confirmation as the Worlds Best Goalkeeper, Real Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois was asked by HLN about how well Simon Mignolet was playing. Courtois was full of praise for the Club Brugge goalkeeper, stating “I think it’s great what he’s accomplished. He deserves all the recognition and he is a top goalkeeper”.
Courtois also tipped his fellow countryman to win the Golden Shoe in Belgium, the award for the years top player. “I hope he gets the Golden Shoe. It would be deserved. No one in Belgium has played at Simon’s level this year”.
The Madrid keeper was also asked about his injury and the upcoming World Cup. “I have now had four training sessions and I am almost fit. I didn’t want to resume too quickly and make progress gradually. Be careful, don’t take unnecessary risks. In principle I can play against Sevilla on Saturday. And nobody should worry about the World Cup right now”.
