RB Leipzig submit second bid worth around €20m for Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida

RB Leipzig have submitted a second bid worth around €20m for Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida, according to Algemeen Dagblad. Last week the Bundesliga club sent an offer to the Eredivisie champions, which was almost immediately turned down. This new offer is closer to Feyenoord’s asking price.

Geertruida can play as a right-back, centre-back or defensive midfielder. Last season the 22-year-old played 17 times as a right-back and 19 times in the centre of the Feyenoord defence. Lutsharel Geertruida has also played three times for the Netherlands national team.

Recently it was reported that Barcelona were also interested in the defender. He’s fast, physical and versatile, which are attributes that will help him fit into any top European club. Both Feyenoord and RB Leipzig will be playing Champions League football next season. It’ll be down to Geertruida to decide whether he wants to make the move to Germany or not.

In addition to Lutsharel Geertruida, goalkeeper Justin Bijlow is also linked with a move away from De Kuip this summer. The 25-year-old is on Manchester United’s list of potential replacements for David de Gea. Head coach Arne Slot has already lost a star man this summer. Orkun Kökçü recently completed a move to Benfica for around €30m.
