RB Leipzig submit new bid for Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida

According to Fabrizio Romano, RB Leipzig have submitted a new bid for Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida. Talks are ongoing between the two clubs as Leipzig are still searching for Joško Gvardiol’s replacement. The Croatian centre-back is set to join Manchester City after a £77.6m fee was agreed on Wednesday. Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida and Lyon’s Castello Lukeba are Leipzig’s two main targets.

It’s unknown how much this new offer for Geertruida is worth, but Leipzig’s previous bid for the 23-year-old was reported to be worth around €20m. Feyenoord want significantly more than that.

Geertruida can play as a right-back, centre-back or defensive midfielder. Last season he played 17 times as a right-back and 19 times in the centre of the Feyenoord defence. Lutsharel Geertruida has also played three times for the Netherlands national team. Recently it was reported that Barcelona were also interested in the defender. He’s fast, physical and versatile, which are attributes that will help him fit into any top European club. If Feyenoord reject this fresh bid from RB Leipzig, it’s likely that the German side will walk away.
