OH Leuven’s young midfielder Ezechiel Banzuzi has his new club. The Dutch youngster, who was a target for West Ham in January, has moved to the Bundesliga to join RB Leipzig. It has been reported that the fee is €16m, a record for OH Leuven in terms of player sales. RB Leipzig are clearly fans of the midfielder and have a lot of faith in him, having handed him a deal until 2030.
The 20-year-old midfielder has been in great form for the side this season. In 31 games he has scored three goals and provided five assists. Banzuzi joined OHL for a minimal fee from NAC Breda back in the summer of 2023 and the side have made a huge profit on him. He will now line up with another young talent that left the Pro League recently in Antwerp’s former midfielder Arthur Vermeeren, who is now a permanent member of the RB Leipzig squad.
For now, Banzuzi will finish the season with OHL before joining RB Leipzig in the summer. However, it remains to be seen whether Chris Coleman will play him much. The head coach appears to be giving different players a chance during the play-offs to try and work out who he wants to keep for the 2025/2026 campaign.
