Rafael van der Vaart feels those calling for Ajax to sack Alfred Schreuder are ‘going too far’

Rafael van der Vaart feels that those calling for Ajax to sack Alfred Schreuder are “going too far.”

It has been a disastrous few days for Ajax with a 1-1 draw with Go Ahead Eagles being followed by a humiliating 6-1 defeat at home to Napoli.

The club have now lost three and drawn one of their last four matches, and many fans want Schreuder to be sacked already as a result.

While Van der Vaart agrees that the manager hasn’t been doing well, criticising him for continuing to play Dusan Tadic, he feels such calls are premature.

“Tadic is not in shape at all,” he said after the Napoli match on Ziggo Sport.

“You have to respect what he has done for Ajax, I do too, but there comes a time when you say: ‘he plays badly, I change him.’

“And then the crowd already shouts ‘Schreuder f*** off’. I think that is going too far.”
