PSV’s Jerdy Schouten ruled out of action for the coming weeks with muscle injury

PSV Eindhoven midfielder Jerdy Schouten has suffered a setback in his recovery from injury. The 27-year-old sustained a muscle injury during last weekend’s Eredivisie clash with AZ Alkmaar and was immediately ruled out of Tuesday’s Champions League clash against PSG. Now he’s set to miss the ‘coming weeks’.

The club shared the news in a statement on Thursday evening, which confirmed: ‘Jerdy will use the next few weeks to rehabilitate.’ Jerdy Schouten had his say on the situation: ‘This is of course incredibly disappointing, but I will work extremely hard to be able to be important for the team again as soon as possible’.

Schouten will miss upcoming Eredivisie games against PEC Zwolle and Ajax, as well as their Champions League clash with Girona. The Netherlands international may end up missing more matches depending on the severity of his muscle injury. Schouten has featured in all but two of PSV’s Eredivisie games so far this season and will be a huge loss for Peter Bosz.
