PSV’s Erick Gutiérrez in talks to join Chivas Guadalajara after five years at the Philips Stadion

PSV midfielder Erick Gutiérrez is set to leave the club after five seasons. According to Eindhovens Dagblad, the Mexican midfielder is in talks with Chivas Guadalajara about a possible transfer.

Erick Gutiérrez joined PSV from Liga MX side Pachuca in 2018. Since then the 28-year-old has featured 141 times for the Dutch giants, scoring 12 times and providing 12 assists. During his time at the Philips Stadion, the 36-time Mexican international won two KNVB Cups and a Dutch Super Cup.

Last summer Gutiérrez signed a new deal with PSV valid until mid-2025. But after featuring 30 times in the Eredivisie last season, 17 times as a substitute, the central midfielder has fallen slightly down the pecking order.

A return to Mexico is on the horizon for Erick Gutiérrez. Chivas Guadalajara have held talks with the player’s management and a move is expected soon. The new season in Mexico is about to start. Chivas will play Club León on the 4th of July.
