After negotiations have seemingly stalled with Bayern Munichโs Daniel Peretz, PSV have targeted a new stopper to challenge Nick Olij.
According to Voetbal International, German sources have reported that Bayer Leverkusenโs Czech international, Matej Kovar (25), is the new intended goalkeeping reinforcement, now that negotiations with Bayern Munich are going badly.
According to Sky Germany, PSV and Bayer Leverkusen are already in talks about Kovar. For the Eindhoven side, it was initially intended that Daniel Peretz would come in as Nick Olijโs competitor on loan, but there has been little progress in those negotiations for some time. Sources suggest that this has to do with Bayernโs โhigh demandsโ.
It was believed that PSV had a verbal agreement with Peretz for some time, yet the negotiations for a loan with an option to buy have proved unsuccessful.
While PSV have yet to comment on their interest in Kovar, VI are predicting a permanent offer for the 13-time Czech international, especially after Erik ten Hag brought in Mark Flekken from Brentford.
The 6 ft 5 Kovar was picked up at a young age by Manchester United, who later loaned him to Swindon Town, Burton Albion and Sparta Prague. Under Ten Hag, he left the club for Bayer Leverkusen. In Germany, he became the second goalkeeper behind Lukas Hradecky and appeared a total of 32 times in all competitions.
