According to Fabrizio Romano, PSV Eindhoven have rejected Burnley’s latest offer for Johan Bakayoko. On Thursday evening, Burnley made a second offer worth €20m for the Belgian winger. PSV have quickly responded by rejecting the offer, as they’re not looking to sell Bakayoko this summer. Other clubs including Napoli and Liverpool are currently keeping tabs on the 20-year-old.
Johan Bakayoko featured 39 times in all competitions last season as PSV finished second in the Eredivisie and lifted the KNVB Cup. The academy graduate scored nine goals and provided six assists. Already, Bakayoko has kicked off the new campaign in superb style. The four-time Belgium international provided two assists in his side’s 4-1 victory over Sturm Graz in their Champions League qualification match two weeks ago. He also played for in PSV’s 2-0 victory over Utrecht and 3-1 win over Vitesse. Unsurprisingly, his fantastic form has attracted interest from several sides. Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is one of the winger’s biggest admirers.
Last month, Johan Bakayoko’s management confirmed to Voetbal International that the player is happy at PSV and wants to play and develop each week under Peter Bosz. However, a move to the Premier League definitely wouldn’t be something the player would avoid. There will certainly be plenty of competition to sign Bakayoko before the transfer window shuts. However, a high price will be required to make a move happen.
