PSV making late push to sign Davinson Sánchez from Tottenham

According to Rik Elfrink, PSV Eindhoven are doing everything they can to sign Tottenham’s Davinson Sánchez before the transfer deadline. The Colombian defender has been on PSV’s shortlist for most of the summer, and now they’re making a late move for the 27-year-old centre-back.

PSV currently only have three centre-backs in their squad. Olivier Boscagli, André Ramalho and Jordan Teze are fit and available. Armando Obispo is currently recovering from an injury. The Eredivisie side are in need of a new centre-back and Davinson Sánchez is one of three top targets. Espanyol defender César Montes and Anderlecht’s Zeno Debast were also candidates, but Sánchez seems more likely as the transfer window comes to a close.

At Spurs, Sánchez never managed to live up to expectations. The North London club paid Ajax a fee of €42m for the 54-time Colombian international. In total, he’s featured 205 times for Tottenham since signing in the summer of 2017. Last season, his Premier League game time was reduced to just 18 appearances. Tottenham are willing to let the defender leave, but for the right price.
