PSV interested in Aston Villa’s Anwar El Ghazi

PSV are interested in signing Anwar El Ghazi from Aston Villa, regardless of if Cody Gakpo leaves for Manchester United or not.

It’s unclear whether Gakpo will be a PSV player by the end of the transfer window or not, but even if he stays, they’ll still be short of attackers.

Noni Madueke picked up an injury before the start of the season while Luuk de Jong did so against Rangers. Both are now unavailable for a number of weeks.

As a result, PSV are somewhat desperate for forward reinforcements and, according to Rik Elfrink, are considering signing El Ghazi from Aston Villa.

Just a year ago, his form was so impressive, with him scoring 10 goals in the Premier League season, that many wanted him to be in the Netherlands’ Euro 2020 squad.

Since then though, he has struggled at both Villa and Everton, where he went on loan, failing to make much of an impact at either club.

With his contract expiring in a year, he wouldn’t cost the Dutch club much.
