Cash register rings in Eindhoven: PSV’s income in the Champions League amounts to 73.5 million euros

It has been reported that PSV have now turned over 73.5 million euros in the Champions League. The club earned another 11 million euros by reaching the round of 16 with their 3-1 victory over Juventus on Wednesday evening.

UEFA have never promised so much prize money as this season in the Champions League. For the 36 clubs initially involved, there was a rumoured total of 2.437 billion euros up for grabs.

For each club, the starting bonus is 18.62 million euros. In addition, there is a so-called ‘value pillar’ based on the position of the club on the coefficient ranking and the revenue from the TV rights. For PSV, that amount is around 17 million euros. Furthermore, there are bonuses for sporting achievements (2.1 million euros for a win and 700,000 euros for a draw) and the place in the final ranking of the group stage. The clubs also earn receipts from ticket sales.

PSV won four matches in the group stage and drew twice. The fourteenth place in the rankings earned a bonus of 6.3 million euros. PSV also received 1 million euros for reaching the intermediate round. UEFA does not award bonuses for individual results of matches in the intermediate round. PSV now receives 11 million for reaching the round of 16.

The club played five home matches in a sold-out Philips Stadium, good for a total receipt of an estimated 9 million euros. The tickets for the home match in the round of 16 against Arsenal or Inter will undoubtedly also be sold out quickly.
