PSV and Ajax set to battle it out for Aston Villa’s Anwar El Ghazi

PSV are in talks to sign Aston Villa’s Anwar El Ghazi, but could face competition from rivals Ajax should Antony join Manchester United.

Both Eredivisie clubs have had their star wingers, Cody Gakpo and Antony, linked with Man Utd all summer, and both players could still leave for England before the end of the transfer window.

It had previously been reported that, due to Luuk de Jong and Noni Madueke being injured, PSV were interested in signing El Ghazi regardless of if Gakpo stays or not, and that interest has now become more concrete.

According to De Telegraaf, they’re negotiating a deal with Aston Villa. They’re pushing to sign the winger on a free transfer given his contract expires at the end of the season, but his current club want to receive a fee for him.

Such negotiations could be further complicated by Ajax with Marcel van der Kraan, one of the publication’s journalists, reporting that they’re also interested in signing the Dutchman.

They’d initially planned to sign Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea should Antony leave but the London’s clubs asking price is making such a deal impossible. As a result, they’re looking for alternatives, and have picked out El Ghazi as one.
