PSG loanee Djeidi Gassama showing his dribbling skills in Eupen

Eupen’s 19-year-old French attacker Djeidi Gassama is currently leading the Belgian Pro League in successful dribbles per 90. According to FotMob, the on loan PSG teenager is averaging 3.3 successful dribbles per 90, with a success percentage of 50%. Gassama has played 17 matches since joining Eupen on loan from the Parisians, scoring twice and providing one assist. Prior to this weekends clash with Kortrijk, he had been the favoured forward for head coach Edward Still, the brother of the now well known Will Still.

Gassama’s best performance of the season came against KV Oostende back at the beginning of March, as he scored and provided an assist in the 4-4 draw. His other goal came late against Standard Liege at the beginning of November, securing the side a 2-0 win. With Eupen now four points away from safety and just two games to go, this win will certainly be viewed as a crucial one should they remain in the league.

Regardless of what league Eupen are in, Gassama is scheduled to return to PSG in the summer. With just a year left on his contract at the French side, it remains to be seen whether he will be considered worthy of a longer term contract. He could follow in the footsteps of fellow Eupen player Teddy Alloh, who joined Eupen permanently from PSG after a brief loan period.
