Ajax need to claim victory against Liverpool to keep their hopes of making it to the knockout stages of the Champions League alive.
After following up a loss to the English side with back-to-back defeats to Napoli, the Dutch side’s chances of finishing in the top two of their group hang by a thread. Should they fail to beat Jurgen Klopp and co, they’ll be out.
Since those disappointing results, Alfred Schreuder has made some changes, bringing Brian Brobbey in for Mohammed Kudus, moving Steven Bergwijn to the right – with Steven Berghuis dropping deeper – and putting Dusan Tadic on the left.
Such changes have worked well with the team picking up 7-1 and 4-1 wins over Excelsior and Waalwijk respectively in their last two matches.
As a result, the lineup will most likely stay the same for the clash with Liverpool, with Jorge Sanchez and Davy Klaassen retaining their places due to the fact that Devyne Rensch and Kenneth Taylor aren’t fully fit.
Here’s how the hosts will most likely line up:
Pasveer; Sanchez, Timber, Blind, Bassey; Álvarez, Berghuis, Klaassen; Bergwijn, Brobbey, Tadic.
