AZ Alkmaar may be without Troy Parrott in Thursdayโs Conference League play-offs. The Irish striker was injured in training on Tuesday, manager Maarten Martens revealed.
AZ hope to reach the main phase of the Conference League tomorrow evening. At home, the Alkmaar side will defend their 2-0 lead against Levski Sofia. Whether Parrott will be there is highly doubtful.
โTroy was sidelined from training on Tuesday,โ Martens explained. โWeโll have to see how heโs doing.โ
Even if Parrott is unable to play, the Belgian coach isnโt too worried about the state of his team. โIn Mexx (Meerdink) we have another very good striker, and thatโs been a topic of conversation lately.โ
The in-form Parrott has recently been preferred over his Dutch rival. In seven matches โ spread across the Eredivisie and Conference League โ he has scored a remarkable nine goals. Meerdink has scored two goals in six matches across all competitions this season.
