Once friends with Chelsea and Roman Abramovich, Vitesse now need to get rid of over €19m of debt in less than a month

ESPN are reporting that Vitesse have until the 15th of June to get rid of a debt of €19.4m. By that date, the club need to submit a balanced budget to the licensing committee. While there has been some success in taking the money out of the hands of long-time business associate of Roman Abramovich Valery Oyf, the club are now in desperate need of new ownership and money.

In an attempt to save their club, the fans have sprung into action. They launched a crowdfunding campaign which managed to raise €2m, an incredible effort given the circumstances. However, they need help from elsewhere to make a real dent into the debt that has mounted overtime.

The club, having been deducted points and relegated from the Eredivisie, are now fighting to gain a license to play in the Dutch second tier. Time appears to be running out for Vitesse and the date with destiny is fast approaching.
