Ole Romeny was Indonesiaโs hero on Tuesday as his goal against Bahrain gave the country three important points in the Asian World Cup qualifying series. After the match, Romeny explained that this decisive 1-0 strike held both personal and patriotic importance.
โI told my mother that every goal I score in the Indonesian shirt will be for my grandmother. She is the reason I am here. I know she will be very proud of me. And this goal is also for the whole of Indonesia.
โThe way the people cheer us on, they smile at us, sometimes they even cry. Yes, this is also for the whole country.โ
Romeny then explains why he celebrated his goal by pushing his head up, with his right hand under his chin in a style similar to that of Virgil van Dijk.
