Anderlecht travel to Leuven on Friday evening on the back of a three match unbeaten run. However, Besnik Hasiโs men have only won one of those three matches and will be under pressure to beat an OH Leuven side that have lost two on the bounce. Pressure is mounting at Den Dreef as new head coach David Hubertโs squad have struggled to convince so far this season.
The hosts were glad to see Sory Kaba back at the club, with the striker scoring on his first game back in the side since returning from Spanish football. However, Kabaโs goal came in a 2-1 home loss to RAAL La Louviere, with OH Leuven struggling to create any real chances to get back into the game. Scoring has been a major problem, with just seven goals in eight games. at the other end they have the second worst defence with 16 conceded. Clearly, this is a recipe for disaster.
Anderlechtโs midweek 1-0 win over Gent saw them leap into second place, a sign of how inconsistent teams have been to start the season. After a tougher run of games, the Mauves will be eyeing the next weeks as a chance to really put together a run of good form. Like OH Leuven, Anderlecht have been struggling to score in recent weeks, with just two goals in their last five games. Despite defensive injuries, they have been decent at the back, with just one goal conceded in their past three games.
Neutrals will be unhappy to hear that the sides drew both games last year. In fact, the last three games between the two sides have ended in a draw, with 0-0 being the result between the sides when they last met. Anderlecht will hope they can replicate the 5-1 victory they had over OH Leuven back in October 2023.
