HLN are reporting that OH Leuven have submitted a bid for 27-year-old midfielder Mathias Rasmussen. The side, who have struggled so far this season, want to take advantage of the midfielders lack of playing time with his current club Union St Gilloise. The Brussels based side also brought in Adem Zorgane from Charleroi, whose quality has seen the chances for Rasmussen diminish somewhat. However, with Champions League football on the horizon, Union may not feel too inclined to see players who can operate in the engine room leave the club.
The Norwegian midfielder is currently in his third season with the club, having joined back in 2023 from Eliteserien side Brann. Rasmussen was a regular in his first season in Belgium, playing 53 games. He scored five goals and grabbed five assists during that campaign. Last season he played 36 games, with just one goal and three assists. The midfielder has only come off the bench twice so far this season, playing just 22 minutes.
OH Leuven have been one of the least impressive sides this season, so the addition of Rasmussen would certainly help. However, they really need a goal scorer and the 27-year-old isnโt likely to help in that department.
