OH Leuven bring in former Mallorca defender from Ludogorets

OH Leuven have announced the signing of Franco Russo on loan until the end of the season. The 29-year-old Argentinian central defender joins from Ludogorets Razgrad in Bulgaria in a deal that includes a purchase option. Russo played 11 times in the Bulgarian first tier this season, scoring twice. He also made a handful of appearances in Europe.

Russo joined Espanyol in 2015 and has gone on to play for a number of clubs in Spain. His most recent was Mallorca, who he joined in 2018. After seven appearances he was loaned out to Ponferradina, but on his return he played 47 times and scored once. Last January he moved to Bulgaria to join the premier side Ludogorets. In the last 12 months he has made 38 appearances for the side, scoring three goals.

He joins an OH Leuven side that have struggled defensively and were looking to add more experience to the squad.
