OH Leuven announce signing of former Ghanaian youth international Emmanuel Toku from Botev Plovdiv

OH Leuven have announced the signing of 22-year-old Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Toku from Botev Plovdiv in Bulgaria. Toku, who can play as an attacking or slightly deeper central midfielder, has signed a contract with OH Leuven until 2026. The midfielder has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Bulgarian side, scoring once and providing two assists.

Toku began his career with Cheetah FC in Ghana before moving to Portugal to join Boavista B. In 2019 the midfielder joined BK Fremad Amager in Denmark, before moving permanently to Plovdiv in 2021 on a free transfer. He becomes OH Leuven’s second signing of the window after Mai Traore joined from Norwegian side Viking.

OH Leuven have already seen four players they signed in the summer leave this winter window. Aleksander Buksa joined the departing Joao Gamboa, who returned to Estoril on loan, Santi Ramos Mingo, who went to Argentina, and Raphael Holzhauser who was loaned out to 1860 Munich till the end of the season.
