Sam Lammers will spend the 2022/23 season at Empoli after joining the club on loan from Atalanta.
Atalanta signed Lammers from PSV for a fee of €9 million back in the summer of 2020, but after a promising start, chances to impress have been few and far between for him there.
The Dutchman spent most of the 2020/21 campaign on the bench before being loaned out to Frankfurt the following year. There, he also struggled to secure a place in the starting XI.
He’ll be hoping to finally play regular first-team football again at Empoli, who have been in need of a striker following the end of Andrea Pinamonti’s loan spell at the club.
With him now 25 years of age, this may well be his final chance to show he’s good enough to play in one of Europe’s top leagues, and whether he takes it or not could determine the career he has.
