Official | Georginio Wijnaldum joins Roma from PSG on loan with option to buy

Roma have announced the signing of Netherlands international Georginio Wijnaldum, with the Dutchman joining from PSG on loan with an option to buy.

Wijnaldum didn’t get much playing team in his first season in Paris and lost his place in the national team as a result. That led him to look for a transfer this summer, and he’s now got it.

The midfielder joins Roma on an initial loan deal, with PSG paying 50% of his wages. If he plays more than half of the matches in the upcoming campaign, that deal will become permanent for a fee of €8 million.

“It’s really exciting to be a Roma player,” he said.

“All the people I spoke to gave me excellent feelings about the Club and the fans.

“The club has shown how much it wanted me through the efforts made to close the negotiation positively, as demonstrated by all the fans who in these days have shown me affection on social media. This always gives a lot of confidence to a player.

“I will be committed to giving 100% and helping the team compete for all our goals this season.”
