Official | Feyenoord sign Timon Wellenreuther from Anderlecht

Timon Wellenreuther has joined Feyenoord from Anderlecht, with the Rotterdam club signing him on loan for the season.

Arne Slot has been keen on bringing in another goalkeeper to the club this summer to serve as backup to Justin Bijlow and maybe even challenge the Dutchman for a spot in the starting XI.

It emerged last week that he wanted Wellenreuther, who spent last season on loan at Willem II, to fill that role, and he’s now got his man.

“I feel very good, I’m proud to wear this shirt now,” said Wellenreuther.

“The fact that Feyenoord showed interest makes me proud. I spoke to the trainer a few years ago. I’m looking forward to playing under him.”

The German has played 69 matches in the Eredivisie in total across two spells at Willem II and has joined Feyenoord on an initial loan deal. Whether said deal includes an option to make the move permanent is unclear.
