Ajax have signed Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos on a season-long loan after the board blocked them from signing him permanently.
The two clubs agreed yesterday that the Argentine would join for a fee of €20m, but the Ajax supervisory board pulled the plug on the move, feeling it wasn’t financially responsible.
They then turned down Sevilla’s offer to sign him for €15m instead, only allowing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Gerry Hamstra to get the player on loan.
An agreement on such a move has now been reached and Ocampos has joined for the 2022/23 season. At the end of it, Ajax will have an option to buy the 28-year-old permanently.
The move was announced just before the closure of the Dutch transfer window, but the Eredivisie champions are expected to bring in Florian Grillitsch too. They’re able to sign him after the deadline as it will be a free transfer.
