Nottingham Forest in advanced talks to sign Carlos Borges on loan from Ajax

According to Fabrizio Romano, Nottingham Forest have made a loan move for Ajax talent Carlos Borges. The Portuguese winger has been limited to game time this season, and therefore Ajax are willing to let the player leave for the remainder of the campaign. Forest are in advanced talks to sign Carlos ‘Forbs’, who could arrive at the City Ground alongside Borussia Dortmund’s Giovanni Reyna, as the Reds have set their sights on the US international.

Ajax signed Carlos Borges last summer, spending nearly €19m on the Manchester City academy product. Prior to his move, the 19-year-old experienced a super season with Manchester City’s U21s. The Portuguese youth international finished the 22/23 campaign as the Premier League 2 top scorer, netting 21 times in 24 appearances. On top of that, he provided 11 assists. In all competitions last season, he scored 29 times and provided 18 assists in just 33 appearances.

Unfortunately, things haven’t gone to plan for the youngster in Amsterdam as he’s scored once in 16 games, starting just six of those matches. A move back to England could be beneficial for Carlos Borges’ development. The pacey left winger is excellent on the ball, with no fear in high pressure situations. At Forest, Borges would link up with Portuguese boss Nuno Espírito Santo, who could unleash his full potential.
