Norman Bassette set to join KV Mechelen

HLN are reporting that Norman Bassette will be joining KV Mechelen on loan with a purchase option. the 18-year-old Belgian currently plays for Ligue 2 side Caen. Bassette has played 15 games for the sides first team, scoring one goal. He has also been capped at U18 and U19 level by the Belgian national team. Last season the striker started two games for the French side. It is not clear what has been agreed in terms of the future purchase option between the clubs.

KV Mechelen have won back to back games, with a 4-0 win over Union St Gilloise and a 3-2 come back win against Westerlo, which saw them come back from 2-0 down. The side managed by Steven Defour have won two, drawn one and lost two of their opening five games. New forward Lion Lauberbach got his first goal of the season at the weekend in the victory over Westerlo, but the side lack striker depth which Bassette will bring.

Mechelen face surprise package Eupen at the weekend.
