Noni Madueke could return from injury against Utrecht

Noni Madueke could make his long-awaited return from injury in PSV’s match with Utrecht at the weekend.

Madueke has yet to play in the 2022/23 campaign after picking an ankle injury in pre-season, but he has slowly been returning to full fitness.

In the past week, he has been able to participate in team training sessions, and manager Ruud van Nistelrooy says, barring any further setbacks, he could be available at the weekend.

“We will monitor Noni today and tomorrow to see if he can be there on Sunday,” he said.

Luuk de Jong has also returned to team training recently, but the match with Utrecht will come too soon for him, although he could be ready for the midweek game with Arsenal.

“Luuk is in the last phase of his rehabilitation and he is fully back in team training,” Van Nistelrooy added.

“I expect this to continue to go well, but we have a longer process with him. Heading into Sunday that will be too soon, but maybe he can connect next week.”
