No future in Mechelen for Cameroon international Samuel Oum Gouet

Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Mechelen are adding Samuel Oum Gouet to the transfer list this January. The Cameroonian international, who made two appearances at the World Cup in Qatar, has only made 10 appearances for Malinwa this season. Oum Gouet was a regular for a period of time last season, but has had to settle for sporadic starts and minutes off the bench over the past few months.

Unlike Iebe Swers and Dries Wouters, the 25 year-old midfielder has not been forced to train with the B team as of yet. However, it appears that Mechelen are hopeful someone will make a move for the midfielder during the winter transfer window.

Oum Gouet, who can also fill in at centre-back, joined the Belgian side from SCR Altach in Austria back in the summer of 2021. He began his career in Cameroon with Apejes FC de Mfou, moving to Austria in 2017. Oum Gouet has been capped 24 times by the Cameroonian national team.
