No Alfred Schreuder in Brugge: Rik De Mil set to remain until the end of the season

Club Brugge have announced that Rik De Mil will remain in charge of Club Brugge until the end of the season. Despite plenty of speculation that Alfred Schreuder would be returning after being sacked by Ajax, it appears that the sides were unable to come to an agreement.

Through the clubs official website, CEO Vincent Mannaert said ‘Rik knows the club and the team through and through. His passion and ambition provide a breath of fresh air with which we want to get the most out of the season together with the players and everyone from the sporting activities‘.

This appears to be another shot at Scott Parker, with plenty now coming out about how bad the atmosphere was inside the club during his short tenure. Ferran Jutgla was vocal in his criticism of the former boss and how he handled him as a player following the sides win over Standard Liege at the weekend.

De Mil will now be expected to guarantee that Club Brugge end the season in the top four and qualify for European football next season. In the summer, the club may well look to hire a more experienced head coach over De Mil. One name that has been linked is former Oostende and Genoa coach Alexander Blessin.
