Nigerian teenager George Ilenikhena set to sign for Antwerp

Amiens’ teenage striker George Ilenikhena is on his way to joining Antwerp according to Sacha Tavolieri. The 16-year-old striker played 16 games in Ligue 2 and scored twice. While playing for the second team he made 10 appearances and scored six goals. Antwerp have been searching for a striker that can play as a back-up to their top scorer Vincent Janssen. Ilenikhena’s side finished last season in 12th place in Ligue 2.

Antwerp have been relatively active int he transfer window, especially when it comes to signing young players with potential. They acquired goalkeeper Senne Lammens on a free from Club Brugge, with the keeper signing a four year contract with the Great Old. Back in April they announced that they had signed 20-year-old Swedish attacker Jacob Ondrejka from Elfsborg.

In terms of outgoings, there are rumours that Burnley may look to take Jean Butez from the side after missing out on Bart Verbruggen to Brighton.
