Newcastle United set to appoint former Bayern Munich and Manchester United analyst Marcel Bout as chief scout

According to the Algemeen Dagblad, Newcastle United are set to appoint the experienced Dutchman Marcel Bout as chief scout. The Premier League side are aiming to establish themselves as a top club in Europe. In that ambition, a Dutchman is set to play a leading role behind the scenes. Bout, 60, is expected to start his role immediately.

Marcel Bout brings an abundance of experience with him to Newcastle. In the past, he’s filled various coaching and advisory roles with Feyenoord, FC Volendam, AZ Alkmaar, SC Telstar and Bayern Munich. His most recent roles were with Manchester United, where he began working as an opponent analyst before becoming a scout at the club. Louis van Gaal was in charge of Manchester United during Marcel Bout’s period at the club.

Newcastle have been on the up ever since they came into the hands of Saudi investors back in 2021. Last season they finished fourth in the Premier League table to book a spot in the Champions League. This season they’re sixth in the table after eleven matches. Bout will work as a chief global scout, keeping tabs on exciting young talents from across the world.
