New York Red Bulls interested in Dante Vanzeir

HLN are reporting that New York Red Bulls are interested in bringing in Union St Gilloise striker Dante Vanzeir. The Belgian striker still has a contract with the Brussels side until 2024, and would rather keep the striker till at least the summer given the successful season they are having.

Vanzeir was on holiday in New York during the World Cup break, whilst prior to the break he was also non-committal about still being a Union player at the end of the winter transfer window.

Since joining Union in 2020, the former Genk man has been a key player in their rise from the second tier to challenging for the Pro League title. In 88 appearances, Vanzeir has scored an impressive 47 goals and provided 21 assists. So far this season he has 11 goals and two assists in 25 games across all competitions.

Union are currently second in the table, just seven points behind leaders Genk. They are also through to the next round of the Europa League having qualified comfortably from their group. In the domestic cup, Union are also through to the quarter finals after beating Oostende. They will face last seasons cup winners Gent on the 12th of January.
