Nacer Chadli injury could put an end to players World Cup hopes

In the 3-2 defeat to Sint-Truiden on Saturday, Westerlo winger and Red Devil Nacer Chadli left the field after 10 minutes with an injury. The player appeared to grab the upper part of his back leg after attempting a cross and was unable to continue. Chadli joined Westerlo in the summer with the hope of forcing his way into the World Cup squad.

Former AS Monaco player Chadli has featured eight times for Westerlo this season, grabbing a goal and an assist. Prior to this injury, he was starting to show promising form that may well have given him a chance of getting into the Red Devils squad. The club has yet to announce the severity of the injury, but the muscular nature of the injury could put an end to the players World Cup hopes.

Westerlo came back from 2-0 down against Sint-Truiden this Saturday thanks to the inform Maxim De Cuyper, but fell to a late Daichi Hayashi goal. The newly promoted side are currently in seventh place, with 22 points from 15 games.
