NAC Breda to stick with former Stoke City defender despite heavy defeat to Go Ahead Eagles

Struggling NAC Breda put in a dismal performance this weekend as they succumbed to a heavy defeat to Go Ahead Eagles. The side lost 6-0, just a week after a promising display against Feyenoord. Fans were furious after the game, with some waiting for the players after the match as they headed towards the bus. Some had expected that such a heavy defeat, just a few weeks after a 3-0 defeat in the relegation six pointer with Telstar, would mark the end of Carl Hoefkens time in charge at the club.

However, VI has confirmed that Hoefkens, who played during his career for the likes of Stoke City and West Brom, will be remaining with the club. NAC Bredaโ€™s decision makers appear to still have confidence in the former Club Brugge and Standard Liege head coach that he is the best man to help them avoid relegation. NAC Breda only returned to the top flight last season, but it looks like their time in the Eredivisie will come to an end in their second campaign.

There is still plenty of time for Hoefkens and NAC Breda to turn things around. They are just one point behind Telstar who currently occupy the relegation play-off position, while it is only three points to Excelsior in 15th. Yet, they can ill afford another result like the one they suffered this weekend.
