Kortrijk have announced that they have signed defensive midfielder Mouhamed Gueye from Austrian side Rapid Wien. The young Senegalese has signed a deal with the struggling Belgian side until 2028. The side have not confirmed the amount spent on bringing Gueye to Belgium, but his valuation according to Transfermarkt is €300k.
Gueye only joined the Austrian side last year from Senegalese club US Gorée. He spent the entire 2023/2024 season playing for the sides second team in the Austrian second tier. He leaves having never made an appearance for the first team. In his time with the second side, he played 25 games, scoring twice and grabbing two assists.
Kortrijk are clearly a side needing to do work this window. They have already seen a few players leave, even one that came over in the summer. Gueye is the first signing but it is expected that another will join him shortly, Last year the side loaned in Japanese defender Ryotaro Tsunoda from sister club Cardiff City. The 25-year-old central defender is expected to return for another loan spell.
