Morocco call up Belgian born Zakaria El Ouahdi to U23 side

Morocco have called up RWDM winger Zakaria El Ouahdi to their U23 side, a player who is also eligible to play for the Belgian national team. The 21-year-old currently plays in the Belgian second tier and has scored seven goals in 22 games, as well as providing three assists. This is the first time El Ouahdi has been called up to any national team, but as it is just the U23 of the North African side he is still eligible to represent Belgium at senior level.

El Ouahdi was born in Belgium but also has Moroccan nationality, however the player has said he has not made up his mind on who he will play for at senior level just yet. He may have more chances to impress Domenico Tedesco next season, with RWDM in pole position to gain promotion to the Pro League. The winger has a contract with the Brussels based side until 2025, having joined on a free transfer from third division side Rupel Boom in the summer of 2021.
