Moroccan midfielder Selim Amallah drawing interest from Premier League Clubs

The Athletic are reporting that out of favour Standard Liege midfielder Selim Amallah is on the wish list of Premier League clubs this January. Amallah has been part of the Morocco squad that made history by making the semi-finals of the World Cup, the first side from Africa to do so. Amallah is out of contract in the summer of 2023, but as the Athletic reports, clubs are considering making cut price move for the player in January to avoid a bidding war.

The 26 year-old Moroccan midfielder was offered a new contract by Standard Liege, but after he rejected it the club management decided to no longer consider him for selection. Amallah has made 12 appearances for Standard this season, grabbing four goals and one assist. Head coach of the Liege side Ronny Deila had hoped that Amallah would stay with the club this season and sign a new deal.

The midfielder suffered the tragic loss of his mother back in 2011, something which his cousin claims is the motivation for him to become a professional footballer.
