Moroccan midfielder Oussama Tannane leaves NEC Nijmegen for Qatari club Umm Salal

Oussama Tannane has left NEC Nijmegen after one season with the Eredivisie club. The 11-time Moroccan international has joined Qatari club Umm Salal. Tannane had a year remaining on his deal in the Netherlands but opted for a move to Qatar on Thursday.

Tannane scored six goals in 25 league appearances as NEC finished twelfth in the Eredivisie last season. The 29-year-old attacking midfielder previously played in the Netherlands for Heerenveen, Heracles Almelo, FC Utrecht and Vitesse.

Speaking about Tannane’s decision to leave the club, NEC’s technical director, Carlos Aalbers said ‘Oussama has made use of a clause that was included in his contract. We respect his choice and want to thank him for the past season. We have all been able to enjoy his creativity and actions on the field.’

Umm Salal finished tenth in the Qatar Stars League last season. They narrowly avoided relegation to the second tier. Oussama Tannane has signed a two-year deal with the club.
