Montpellier looking to bring Faitout Maouassa in from Club Brugge permanently

Voetbalkrant are reporting that Montpellier are looking to bring on loan Club Brugge defender Faitout Maouassa to the South of France on a permanent basis. The 24-year-old French defender has played 28 Ligue 1 games for the club, scoring four goals and providing five assists.

The former Rennes defender joined the Belgian champions for around €4m back in the summer of 2021, but only made nine appearances for the club. According to the report, Montpellier are willing to pay around €5m for the defender. The defender is still under contract with Club Brugge until 2025, but it is unlikely he will still be in Belgium by the end of the summer transfer window.

Club Brugge recently lost 2-1 at home to Union St Gilloise, ending any chance the club had of defending their title. Now, it will be between Antwerp, Genk and Union for who will end up taking the crown off of Club Brugge.
