HLN are reporting that Mircea Rednic is already coming under pressure at Standard Liege. The Clubโs board reportedly expressed their dissatisfaction with the sides performances so far this season in a meeting with the head coach. Rednic is in his second spell at the club and it was somewhat of a surprise over the summer when he was reappointed. The side started well but defeats to Union St Gilloise and Cercle Brugge have cast doubts over Rednic.
Last season, expectations at Standard Liege were low after they made little headway in the transfer market. This year, however, under Sporting Director Marc Wilmots, the side have been active in putting together a squad that does have some quality in it. Rednic will be under pressure to ensure Standard Liege perform much better when they face OH Leuven next weekend.
The head coach may well feel slightly hard done by to be under pressure, with striker Thomas Henry having gotten sent off against Union to leave the side playing a man down for most of the game. Without Henry against Cercle, Standard struggled. However, they were also poor at the back against Cercle, which will have concerned both fans and the clubโs decision makers.
